Hassan Ndam Champion
With a Big Heart
Looking at Hassan Ndam's training, even a camera shutter speed of one-hundredth of a second would try to keep up with the pace that this talented boxer has. But let's go nicely from the beginning. Hassan is a French professional boxer with several titles such as the WBO title in 2012 and the WBA (Regular) title in 2017, and in 2019 he once applied for the title of the World Championship in the middle category. Since August 2019, N'Dam has been ranked among the ninth-best active medium weights in the world by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board.
Hassan allowed us to look into his privacy and show us his behind the scenes. Hi Hassan, thank you for your time. It's exciting to do an interview with you.
Thank you for bringing my sport and career to light.
Question: Most children think of becoming an athlete, a football player. How did you get into boxing?
I was introduced to boxing at the age of 6 by my father in Cameroon, himself already heavyweight champion of Africa.
Question: Who is your biggest inspiration today and who was when you started boxing?
Already when I started boxing I was inspired by MIKE TYSON and then I understood with the learning of my father what was noble art and immediately I liked the boxing of MOHAMED ALI, RAY SUGAR LEONARD. I understood that boxing was a game of touching without being touched like a game of hide and seek.
Question: We have noticed in several media how selflessly you help people in these times, you have been seen training nurses in the hospital and creating positive vibrations for them. What was the impulse, why did you decide to do it?
Quite simply because my stepfather has been treated with COVID-19. I wanted to give something which will not be forgotten and which could be used by the nursing assistants and hospital staff, it was good and it served.
Question: What does it mean for you to be a fighter?
A fighter is already a state of mind. It is to be a warrior never to refuse adversity and always to devote oneself to work.
Question: What separates you from all the other fighters in your division?
I don't refuse anyone and I always give my rivals a second chance when I win, which is not the case for all fighters.
Question: If you could have one dream of fighting someone, who would it be?
I have a huge desire to meet the best in my division and GENNADY "GGG'' GOLOVKIN and SAUL ''CANELO'' ALVARES are my targets.
Question: You decided to change your experience in martial arts boxing gloves you exchanged for those for fighting MMA, why such a change in your career?
I was already introduced to MMA in 2013 and I found it magnificent and I wanted to do it at the end of my boxing career. But with the current situation and my age, I decided to do it rather in parallel with my boxing career.
Question: What do you want to remember at the end of your career?
I think I gave everything of my boxing career without regret. I am super proud to have accomplished all this. When I look behind me and where I come from and all the obstacles and barriers that had to be crossed.
Hassan, thank you for the interview you did with us. Being an inspiration to millions of people around the world, we will continue to pursue your career with enthusiasm, which will surely bring you much more success. Thank you very much for granting me this exchange.
